Chasing That Morning Light

The light this morning was something else. There’s just something about sunrise by Lake Vänern that I can’t quite let go of, I never seem to get enough of it.

Lately, as you might have noticed, I’ve been drawn to working with longer shutter speeds. I like what it does to the water. The lake is rarely calm enough to reflect the feeling of the moment, but with the right exposure, it begins to translate something closer to what I actually experienced.

It’s a bit of a balancing act. Too long, and the water turns overly soft and milky. Too short, and it feels restless and distracting. Somewhere in between, there’s a sweet spot and that’s where I find myself experimenting, frame by frame.

Not a bad way to spend a morning.

Have a great weekend.
