Same Place, New Light

Reflection

Another morning at Knuthöjdsmossen, once again in search of the perfect image.

The forecast promised clear skies, which is usually a good indication that fog might form. But when I arrived, the temperature was simply too high and the sky was covered with clouds, so once again, there was no fog to be found.

What I did get, however, was soft morning light and, for just a few seconds, a very thin layer of mist floating above the still surface of the water. So even though it wasn't quite the morning I had hoped for, the image I brought home still feels like a step in the right direction.

One thing that certainly couldn't be faulted was how incredibly still the water was in the small pools scattered across the bog. The reflection of the surrounding forest was almost perfect.

So the name of the image simply had to be Reflection.

I couldn't resist including another image from the same morning, taken just after I arrived at the bog, when the first light of the sun was beginning to illuminate the sky.

It isn't the kind of image I usually set out to capture, but thanks to the reflection in the water, there is something almost surreal about it.
